To many not even wanting flowers on their suits. here are just a few of the neat desings I made this past year. I am looking forward to seeing what Park Place Design come up with. I love the new year January bridal shows, all the inquires from new brides to talk about their flowers. New and inspiring ideas I see all over the web. This past year was no exception I have been wanting to design an all broach bouquet! I LOVE them. The hunt was on I looked all over high and low to make a vintage bouquet tho my efforts paid off some I did have to break down and buy some "new" pins to add to this bouquet. I think it turned out FAB. all the brides, mothers and really grandmothers just love it. So many ohhh ahhh's made me feel so good. I will say if I had to make one it would cost a small fortune all the time hunting for the little devils is unreal and some are so pricy. I told may brides if they wanted to find the pins I would assemble them for a fee.So here it is my "show stopper" Tell me what you think?

I think it's just fun giving flowers to people. This year I made up this one for a new venue that will be open by spring! it is very close to my home and I would LOVE to do a wedding there. So what does the flower lady do in the "so called" off season? well I love to craft and also look for some neat vintage stuff to us in my stuido space. But this year something has taken my eye. Its a children's book Elf on the self! what a great story to share with your children. it has a fun way to interact with the Elf and Santa story. In our home we named our Elf Jax. Jax has some new friends found by the flower lady this week while vintage shopping. These little cutie pies are pretty old I kinda remeber them when i was very young. I did not know what they were uses for until I read the story. If you have children, grandchildren this would be an amazing gift this Christmas. here is a few photos of Jax and his new friends they are just hanging out!

I am normally not to crazy abut an all white wedding bouquet, But I think this is very pretty, kinda a understated look but had a perfect in packed for the brides wedding day. The pomanders were made to look like pumpkins hanging in a row. Very cute and added the color she needed..

It is with a heavy sign that I have to report I am at the end of the season with weddings. Oct. is at an end and November has a few odds and ends and one wedding. I will be posting a few of the new photos I get form pros as they come in. 2011 has been a wonderful year for Park Place Design I made a lot of new changes and implemented some new strategies and they have really taken me to the next level. I am looking forward to 2012 with many very nice weddings on the books. January will hold bridal shows, new brides and new trends to try for us. Boy was the Michigan weather COLD yesterday winds were 25-30 miles per hour , But that did not stop my bride from having her wedding outside. This bride was my bride who HATES flowers. But she said she liked them when she seen them I did not get any photos of her BUT I know the pro who shot her wedding so I will post as soon as I get some. I did get some of the wedding site. Here is Michigan in Oct. The sun did come out for her wedding. The arbor was made by the bride uncle and was a gift to the new couple.. NO I did not hang the Tulle on it(ugly).. LOL

Here we are at the 2nd weekend of Oct. Boy is the year going to fly by. This wedding was in Kalamazoo at St Catherin church in Portage and the reception was at the Raddison down town Kalamazoo. This wedding screamed fall tons of bright fall colors textures and elements. Sorry to say that it is one of the few I have left for 2011. My winter break will coming up soon.

I never really wanted to do anything other then wedding desings. I have in the past always turned done funerals(other then family) prom Mothers day etc. This year has been the year for request so I have been taking a few of them I set minimums for this type of work. My coolers are not full everyday with flowers so every thing is special ordered for the order. This is a request I got this week for table pieces for a wine party. The customer made the box's and I filled them I think they turned out very cool. I will deliver them in the afternoon I am sure they will love them too. If you are interested in Park Place Design for something other then wedding work my minimums are as follows funeral work 150.00. table scapes start at 250.00, holiday party work starts at 300.00. Some clients also want us to revamp some of pieces they have this starts at 100.00. Weekly floral for your office starts at 100.00 a week.

Park Place Design has been all over the country side this weekend with weddings back to back and the heat well into the 90's we have really been crazy. This sweet wonderful wedding at Gull Lake is my last wedding for Sunday. What a great day and I have some amazing photos to share. My studio gets an update about every 12 months. I get sick of looking at the same walls. I am sure my brides dont because they only see it a couple of times. Well this weekend was some amazing finds at garage sales and flea markets! I added a TON of Blue mason jars to my rentals and my milk glass collection is wild.

Wow seen just yesterday I was thinking what a heavy month July was for me., I am a one women team with a part time helper In the summer months. I feel so blessed to be working so hard and having amazing brides who trust me with their wedding day. Here it is Friday night and I have ALL my July weddings done. This is the last photo I took when I left.

Most bride when planning a Michigan wedding in January are not thinking to much about HOT, humid, raining Michigan summers. This wedding was not the exception. Sara planned her wedding day on the lake at her In Laws amazing home the day was HOT and sticky about 89 and 104 humidity. I was needless to say "worried" about her flowers being outside all day in the sun.

Her wedding was scheduled for 5:00 and it went off with out a hitch. except there were 2 processionals! right at 5:00 as most of her maids were down the path it stared to rain and RAIN hard. all the guest had to take cover. But a few minutes and dry seats later it went off again as I left and drove away I knew she made it down the rose covered path. BUT it stared to rain again and this time HARD!! I felt so bad. BUT it went off and the umbrellas were out. This is an amazing photo the pros took of the couple taking their vow in a soaked cover lawn, I really love this photo. Here is a few I also took before I left.

When I opened my e-mail Sunday I had these amazing photos from an early June wedding I designed! I was thrilled to get pro photos from the bride. I am such a sucker for the earthy look, Just look at the textures and "green" look of this wedding. I used my own home grow succulents, I also love the green cocks comb, and bunny tail. What a crazy weekend of weddings! Michigan weather has been so hot and humid the air is thick. But my July brides are in full wedding mode. This beach wedding at Gun lake was fun. I also got to capture a few photos before I left for the day. Soft romantic Calla lily's, and wispy grass is perfect for this beach wedding.

So Saturday July 2, was a HOT sunny day about 98 and the humidity was HIGH. But my bride was as cool as as a cucumber. It was a relaxed and fun wedding out on Gun Lake. Just look at theses amazing sunflowers. They are such happy flowers. I was glad to change pace and do yellow.

When the pastor of my church asked me to design her wedding flowers I was more then happy! Kim has become a good friend and I feel blessed to know her. Today is her wedidng day and I along with the kids are attending her wedding. This is also a day I kinda have not been looking forward too. She has been chosen to leave our little church and has been called to another church in another part of the state. I guess its Gods will and also his will that joined us together as friends .

As I close up for the day to deliver and attend her wedding day. I will bring you yet another purple wedding! But never fear its a crazy fourth of July weekend with lots of flowers and lots more colors..

Oh how I love little glass bottles! and even better I LOVE them filled with my flowers and herbs. I could not resist going out in the gardens looking for tiny things to place in theses neat jars I got this weekend at a garage sale. Well Park Place Design wrapped up another wedding today on Friday. Again lavender and purple dominate the month for us. I know you see me using a lot of lily grass in my wedding work, nut really my brides ask for it! It is simple but adds soooo much charm and detail. Here is a few photos I took today. This weekends wedding was again a outdoor wedding with natures feel and elements to it. I am not really a huge fan of fern BUT I love maiden hair fern, succulents again (from My gardens) hanging amerunthus, Lambs ear (my garden) green orchids, curly ferns, cox comb, and Fuji mums. Field dahlias.
I love the outdoors in Michigan Today looks like rain, But the sun is peeking out so I hope my bride gets her wishes for a sunny day. Enjoy~

As most of you know I LOVE succulents these come from my garden along with the herbs I used in the table flowers.

Well what can I say? I love a new venue and mill creek has it. What a fun out of the way spot. My mother and I delivered and set up this great rustic barn with fun lush, simple flowers. Here is some photos I happen to capture as the wedding went off with out a hitch!! get it Hitch!

Nothing I love better then flowers is cute little creatures enjoying them also. Today while in my flowers I was harvesting spearmint for a wedding on Saturday and I saw this amazing HUGE dragonfly! So I hurried back in the house for my Nikon. Lucky he was photogenic because I got many of him.

Right out of my Nikon

One thing I get asked so much about is the colors of flowers, and thanks to photo shop and other sites that can adjust colors it can make flowers almost any color when really they do not grow naturally that way. It can tends to get some designers in a lot of trouble. I love to take photos with my Nikon it takes a pretty nice photo BUT I always send it to my Picnik and adjust colors here is a couple of example of what I mean
As you can see the larger one is a better brighter photo. so much detail. The other is a more dull and not cropped, or had anything adjusted on the color, It makes a world of difference on what you see and what you get.
Brides just because Martha Stewart( and I love her) shows it in a certine color or shade dont always belive what your seeing.

Happy Mothers day to all of you. I wanted to share a happy journey for 3 years now the same mommy robin makes her nest on our deck. This year I captured the progress of her and her mates endeavors. I captured some really cute photos and today MOTHERS day her babies flew off into the yard. I was so happy for all of them. I just love them! over the last few years I have made hundreds of them I can make them in my sleep. So cute and yet simple. You can use carnations, button pomp's, roses, mums, even make paper pomanders. I have hung them in trees, set them in gardens, hung from chairs, doors any setting they work in. lady slipper orchids ohh I just love them. I can by far say they are my #1 flower of all time. I love so many flowers but it still is my favorite. Michigan Floral association

Michigan Floral association is one of the BEST in the states. I am lucky to only be about an hour from any of it's shows. Not only is it a great time with my flowers buddy's, I learn so many new things there. I have become a good desinger because of their hands on programs. Two weekends ago I attended the HUGE show in Grand Rapids this show brings people from all over the state,and surrounding states. So this was my first year entering the design part. I entered 2 parts the first was the bridal bouquet the second was the table center piece. it had to be from an explorer of my choice, Because the theme of the show this year was Explore. I picked Marco Polo and this enhancement of introducing Europeans to Ashia and China. Here is my rendition of that~ It got me3rd place! I was thrilled..
